Description:
The BETA Technology Centre consists of a young multidisciplinary team of 70 researchers and is looking to incorporate a dynamic person who wants to be part of this venture. We are looking for a junior Postdoc with expertise in the areas of cropping systems and nutrient management.

The selected candidate will participate in several European and national projects related to soil and nutrient management. Specifically, the selected candidate will have a relevant role in the Horizon Europe project NUTRIBUDGET, where s/he will work mainly on the application of mitigation measures for optimise nutrient flows from three agricultural pillars (livestock, crops and agro-processes). Mitigation measures include the use of catch crops (i.e., perennial cereal varieties), novel fertiliser products (incl. additives and tailor-made fertilisation), precision agriculture and novel feeds produced from Agri-farm residues.

Functions and duties:
• Planning and execution of biochemical, biotechnological and/or microbiological laboratory assays for the agronomic evaluation of mitigation measures
• Planning and execution of field experiments on the application of mitigation measures
• Development of new soil analysis methodologies
• Elaboration of soil and nutrient management strategies
• Technical management of competitive multi-actor R&D projects
• Participation in the development and acquisition of new R&D project


Doctorate in the field
Agronomy, Biotechnology, Plant Production, Environmental Sciences or similar 

University degree in the field
Agronomy, Biotechnology, Plant Production, Environmental Sciences or similar

Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it

Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it

Expertise in soil and nutrient management such as agronomic performance, nutrient balance, fertilisation strategies etc.

Experience with biochemical, biotechnological and/or microbiological methodologies

Experience with field experimentation and multi-actor collaboration

Good communication skills (written and oral) and ability to work independently and with internal and external teams in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments


Teaching experience at university level

Level B2 or more in languages other than English

Accreditation by an academic Quality Agency

Research experience

Knowledge of digital agriculture and/or precision agriculture and GIS experience (eg ArcGis, QGis)

Previous experience in R&D project acquisition and management will be advantageous and considered

Scientific publication record in the proposed research field
